It's too sad when a family business that helped to define Austin's character closes. When record store Sound on Sound on closed the loss was palpable. Now The Parlor - part family pizza restaurant, part perfect punk venue - will close at the end of this month.
According to the Statesman, The Parlor on North Loop will host two full weeks of shows from June 8th through the 21st, with many of the bands that played shows there over the years. Simply check the Parlor's beloved music "calender" (aw it's on Myspace!) or like, go to the North Loop Parlor, shows may start early during the weekdays and around nine-ish on weekends. They sell beer!
The AV Club also reported that increased rent for the North Loop space made operations unsustainable, but Parlor on Guadalupe will still continue cranking out the French bread pizzas you see pictured above.
The Parlor is closing!!!! Nooooooooooooo! I repeat...NOOOOOOOOO!
